Alexander Skarsgård, the son of Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, who is an actor himself, has been famous from a young age.
He grew up as a child actor, but now that he looks back, he sees that his view of fame was definitely wrong.
Alexander explained his reasons, saying he wanted a normal family life away from the spotlight, where his father had a normal 9-to-5 office job.
“I hated the fact that my family wasn’t normal. I didn’t want to fit in. My biggest dream was that my father would work in an office, in a cubicle, wear a gray suit, drive a Saab to work and have a briefcase,” he said. W magazine.
Amid this, the 49-year-old also said that he initially did not want to become an actor. “My father is an actor, but I actually didn’t want to be an actor at all.”
But the opportunity to act on screen came through his father’s friend, a director who needed a child actor.
“When I was 7, my father’s friend, who is a director, needed a 7-year-old child for his film, and I happened to be there. When I was 13, I made a small film for television, but it got a little attention and I felt very uncomfortable about it.”
Alexander said at the time that he realized acting wasn’t his thing after the attention he received for his performances, which made him uncomfortable. That’s why he quit the profession for a while.
However, his views on art changed in his early twenties. “When I was 20, 21, I remember really enjoying being on set,” he continued.
“I went to theater school in New York and after a few years I got my first job in the United States. It was Zoolander.”
Alexander’s latest film, Pilliondebuts in the United States on February 6.
