Reese Witherspoon issues an urgent warning after scammers used her identity

Reese Witherspoon has issued an urgent warning after discovering her identity is being used to target fans on social media.

Taking to TikTok on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the actress warned her fans that several fake accounts are impersonating her on the platforms including TikTok and Instagram.

In the video, Witherspoon said, “Hey, this is important,” adding, “I just want to tell you what I’ve been dealing with for the last 24 hours.”

“There are multiple people on TikTok and Instagram impersonating me, and they’re going into people’s DMs, and they’re trying to build a relationship, they’re trying to extract personal information, schedule meeting times,” she further shared.

Witherspoon further explained, “I want you to know that this is not me. And it’s so disturbing that people would use my name to manipulate people, but I want you to know that I would never, ever manipulate you.”

Additionally, the actress noted that she would “never contact you for money, for private information, to arrange a meeting.”

Witherspoon told her fans to make sure the account was “verified.”

“If anyone is talking to you, it’s not just me. This is happening across the board, but it really upsets me that this is happening on such a large scale. So please be careful out there, and please know that I would never, ever contact you to manipulate you or take anything from you, okay,” she said.

It is pertinent to mention that Reese Witherspoon’s warning comes after Helen Mirren warned fans to be careful of the messages she received from the email address bearing her name in June 2025.
