Prince William visited a farm during his last engagement and helped the farmers with their daily chores.
As a patron of We Are Farming Minds, William made a stop at John Bowler’s farm, who received help from the charity.
The Prince of Wales did not shy away from the duties of the farmer, taking part in pruning apple trees, building a fence and feeding the sheep, joking that he was in the ‘logger’s zone’.
While pruning an apple tree, William picked up the taller and more difficult branches and said, “It’s going to be a tough one up there!”
“It always gets harder the higher you go,” Bowler replied per Hereford Times.
William soon found himself standing in front of an interlocking branch and said it was a “lumberjack moment” when he finally came down.
At the sheepfold, the father of three was received like the prince he is and was “harassed by the flock”.
The Prince of Wales shared photos of the engagement on his and Princess Kate’s Instagram account, writing: “Today he visits Herefordshire to discuss farmers’ mental health. Proud to be a patron of We Are Farming Minds and to see its impact first-hand in the farming community. Farmers are facing multiple external pressures and significant uncertainty, which makes supporting their mental health and wellbeing so important. Thanks to our hosts John and Laura for sharing their stories.”
During his visit, Prince William showed his support for the charity’s mission to end the stigma around mental health in the farming community, and guide farmers in dealing with stress and pressure.
