Taylor Swift looked almost perfect when she hit the stage during her pop Eras tour to put on a show.
During the 149 shows, the 36-year-old did not miss even a single show due to illness.
The only minor mention of ill health came during her Edinburgh show, when Taylor changed the lyrics of her song “I can do it with a broken heart” to “I can do it with a sniffly nose.”
Since the tour ended, the pop star has spoken openly about being unwell during her shows, telling Stephen Colbert: “I had the stomach flu several times on tour.”
She also famously damaged her hand during one of her quick understage changes, returning to the stage with her skin torn from her palm – an injury she mentions in the Eras tour documentary about Disney+which was released last December.
While Taylor herself shared these illnesses and injuries, more details about her touring ailments have emerged – via court documents from the lawsuit against Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
In text conversations between Taylor and Blake, who have been friends for more than a decade, Taylor told Blake in December 2024, days before the end of her tour, “I’m just exhausted in every direction of my life.”
Revealing a few more illnesses that Taylor suffered from during her tour, Blake replied, “I’m glad you’re done with suitcases, constant sinus infections, and torn kneecaps. So close.’
So, how did Taylor seem invincible on stage despite being sick at times?
Her strength and endurance are likely due to the intense preparation she has done to get fit for the tour.
Looking back on her commitment to touring, Taylor Swift shared with Time magazine: “I knew this tour was harder than anything I had ever done before. Finally, for the very first time, I prepared physically correctly.”
Her workout routine included daily treadmill sessions where she ran while singing the whole thing Eras tour set list, running for fast songs and jogging or fast walking for slower songs.
