Channing Tatum gets honest about his ‘wild’ old job

Channing Tatum is opening up about his strip job

Channing Tatum was a stripper for eight months. He now says he did the job out of excitement, which the actor said was to be expected given his age at the time.

“I mean, I was 18 and just wanted to get a little crazy, you know. I was looking for the wild time and I found it.”

The star describes the job as “a bit crazy” because he was 18 when he secured a place at a club. But when it comes to stripping as a job, the 45-year-old admits a lot has changed.

“I’m not going to lie, it’s weird,” he further shares The Drew Barrymore Show. “It was a different kind then than we do now.”

Tatum explains that the nature of the job involves interacting with strangers. But these experiences were often accompanied by amusing incidents, but at other times by strange incidents.

“You go out and meet someone you don’t know, and it’s fun until someone says, ‘You remind me of my cousin.’ And you say, ‘What? Okay…can I have the dollar now?’ To proceed. It’s weird.”

But looking back, Tatum’s brief detour into comics turned out to be a godsend for his career, as it gave birth to the Magic Mike franchise, which is reportedly worth $180 million.

The franchise started with films based on the actor’s life as a stripper in Florida and grew into a massive entertainment empire, including reality shows, music competitions and more.
