Thomas Tuchel will sign a two-year extension to England’s contract, allowing him to lead the national team until after the 2028 European Championship.
Tuchel took charge of England in January 2025. In a significant move, the Football Association has decided to keep the Paris Saint-Germain boss at the helm regardless of how England perform at the World Cup this summer.
Tuchel originally signed an 18-month contract, but a recent extension will see him take charge of the Three Lions until the end of a quest for European Championship glory in 2028.
The move will provide continuity in leadership ahead of the event and dampen the hopes of big clubs trying to loan him away from the former Chelsea manager.
The 2028 European Championship will be organized in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Last November, Tuchel also expressed his wish to continue the role after the World Cup.
“I feel new energy and I love working with the players and being close to the Premier League. I also know how much support and confidence I have,” he said at the time.
The Football Association is expected to confirm the extension on Thursday. Tuchel will also travel to Brussels for the 2006-07 Nations League draw, which takes place after the annual UEFA congress.
