Linda Perry recently reminisced about the time Green Day didn’t respond to her after she was about to produce their sequel to American idiot.
While chatting with NMEthe 61-year-old American singer-songwriter and musician revealed that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong stopped all communication without explanation after she was asked to produce the band’s 2004 follow-up record. American idiot.
Perry said: “I had a full schedule and I canceled six months of work to do it. I met Billie Joe and we talked for three hours… Like any artist, I think he got to a point where you feel like I have nothing to say and I need help – there’s a therapeutic aspect to producing too.”

Perry went on to say that Courtney Love sabotaged her plans to produce an album with Green Day after sharing it publicly, which drew negative reactions from fans.
“And then those guys just stopped calling me. I reached out to find out what was going on. No one called. I lost six months of scheduled work. That was damned — all because Billie Joe is a little pussy and got all those backlashes from his fans and didn’t like it,” she recalled.
