Emma Slater has finally responded to the rumors that she is leaving Dancing with the stars.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Three Questions with Andy Richter podcast, the 37-year-old professional dancer discussed her thoughts on when she might retire DWTS.
“How long do you think you have left on Dancing With The Stars?” Andy asked Emma. “Because dance is a cruel business, in terms of ageism”
“Totally, and for women too! I want to go through it as long as I can,” the professional dancer replied. “I’ve had the most incredible career.”
“Actually, last week someone came to me and asked, ‘Are the rumors true?’ and I thought: what rumor?? They said, ‘Are you going to retire this year?’ and I could imagine that such a rumor would arise because they look at me like she is the old girl,” she added. Just Jared.
Emma also said she wants to stay on the dance show for “as long as possible.”
“As soon as I feel like I’m going to be kicked out, I’ll drop the ageism thing – ‘this is what Hollywood does to women as they get older!!’” said Emma.
Additionally, the British choreographer clarified that she wants to leave DWTS on her own terms.
“I’d like it to be my decision, I guess. But I’ve decided that I expect to be there, and if and when they say I’m not invited anymore, I’ll get over that if it happens,” the dancer shared.
“I think you’re putting limitations on yourself, saying, how many years do I have left? I’m just going to keep going. And then try to remove that limitation for myself until I can’t use what they’re looking for anymore, and then I’ll try to stay in a different form. The brand is doing so well and I love producing. So maybe I want to turn me into a producer or something,” Emma added.
For those not yet familiar, Emma has joined DWTS in season 14 and earned a promotion to pro in season 17.
