Gayle King Breaks Silence on Savannah Guthrie’s Return to ‘Today’ Amid Her Mother’s Disappearance

Gayle King stands by her boyfriend and American TV host Savannah Guthrie after she returns Today show amid the disappearance of her mother Nancy.

In a recent conversation with American weekly on the red carpet of the Breakthrough Prize event in Los Angeles, the CBS mornings host expressed her happiness over Guthrie’s return despite the difficult time she is facing.

“Listen, we’re just happy to have Savannah back,” she told the outlet.

At the same time, King noted that she feels Guthrie’s pain as her mother’s disappearance continues.

King said, “But of course our hearts still ache and still break. There are no words to describe what she’s going through.”

Showing her support for Gutherie, King continued, “I’m still hoping that someone will do the right thing. Someone, someone out there knows something, and it’s shocking to me after seeing Savannah open her heart, after watching the video we all saw, and after the million dollar reward that no resolution has been found in this case.”

She added, “So I’m just here to wish her well and cheer for her. I’m glad she’s back.”

For those unfamiliar, the 84-year-old mother of the NBC Today show anchor has been missing since February 1, 2026, believed to have been kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

As the investigation into her search continues, recent developments indicate that the FBI has received and is analyzing “potentially critical” DNA samples recovered from Nancy’s home months ago.
