Elle Fanning does not shy away from baring everything for the camera. Her latest series on Apple TV+, Margo has money problemsis an example of this.
Fanning admits she isn’t “very modest” about portraying nudity on screen, and says she has already performed such scenes, pointing to her stint in The Greata Hulu series in which she portrayed Catherine the Great.
“I feel like I broke that down in The Great,” she says People. “I thought, ‘I’ve already done this.'”
Rather than feeling uncomfortable, Fanning shares that she is “really proud” of how her on-screen nudity on the show came about after she turned to OnlyFans to raise financial support after becoming pregnant by her English professor.
“I’m really proud of the way the nudity is depicted [Margo’s Got Money Troubles]because it’s not in an overly sexualized way at all.”
The 28-year-old adds nudity Margo has money problems serves a purpose rather than sending cheap thrills.
“A lot of it really just has to do with the needs of motherhood, the need to feed and breastfeed your child,” she says.
“And that’s kind of juxtaposed later, when Margo does her OnlyFans. But I think it’s a nice commentary on how her relationship with her body is changing.”
Fanning provides further details, saying she had to use prosthetics for breastfeeding scenes.
“I often had to make prosthetics [my boobs] look like nursing breasts and milk that would squirt out of this thing they had.”
“So I was sitting in the trailer and they put them on, and I was like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to walk out.’ And I’m like, ‘Wait a minute; I can’t walk outside. This is not a shirt. ”
