A Florida jury has ruled in favor of Megan Thee Stallion in her defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz, born Milagro Elizabeth Cooper.
The 30-year-old rapper sued in October 2024, accusing Cooper of falsely claiming she was a “paid surrogate” for Tory Lanez and spreading misinformation about the 2020 shooting case.
A panel of nine jurors awarded Megan $75,000, later reduced to $59,000 by U.S. District Court Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga, who classified Cooper as a media defendant.
A source said Cooper may also have to pay Megan’s legal fees. As she left the court, Megan said she was “just happy.”
Cooper’s lawyer, Nathacha Bien-Aime, said the verdict raises concerns about freedom of expression and the risks to digital commentators. She argued that such decisions could discourage online discussion of public figures.
During earlier testimony, Megan said Cooper’s messages seriously damaged her mental health and career. She testified that the harassment left her deeply depressed.
The lawsuit accused Cooper of sharing a deepfake sexual video and falsely claiming the gun used in the 2020 shooting was missing. Lanez was convicted in 2022 on multiple firearms-related charges stemming from that incident.
