Miely Cyrus admits she offers her talent to Hollywood producers at social events.
The former Disney star, who recently won a Grammy for her son’s “Flowers,” says she recently had the chance to talk to James Cameron about her music. The singer has now written a credits song “Dream As One” for the new Avatar: Fire and Ash.
“I’m kind of throwing it out there, like I always do,” Cyrus tells PEOPLE.
Recalling how she approached Cameron, Cyrus reveals, “I already knew the answer to the question, ‘So what have you been up to?’ I know he has been working on Avatar for a long time.”
Cyrus shouts her message back to Cameron, adding, “Just let me know if you ever need music,” as she recalls
“No, literally,” says Cyrus, “that’s why I went to the Oscars this year. Everyone who came up and introduced themselves, I said, ‘If you need music, I’m here.'”
This comes as the singer shared that she found solace in music as she continues to heal from one of the most painful moments of her life.
Years after losing her Malibu home to a devastating wildfire, Cyrus revealed that songwriting played an important role in coping with the loss and moving forward.
While speaking to Variety, Cyrus explained that her song Dream As One, written for the film Avatar: Fire and Ash, was primarily inspired by her own journey.
The film’s story follows a community forced to survive after their home is destroyed, a story she feels deeply connected to.
“It’s literally part of my life. Losing my home and rebuilding it from the ground up,” she said, adding that music became her way to heal.
She continued, “Any time I can put something that I’ve been through out there that can help other people, that really is the medicine in music. It’s the truest healer.”
