Why do your knees start popping and when it’s normal

Why do your knees start to pop and when is it normal?

An ITV doctor has claimed there are a few things people who notice a problematic symptom in their knees should do about it.

His advice doesn’t cover medications, and he says following his guidance can make all the difference when it comes to a condition that can affect “all of us.”

People may notice that as they age, body parts may make strange noises. One problem area that draws attention when people sit down or stand up are their knees.

A listener asked Dr. Amir Khan to his No appointments necessary podcast show whether food or exercise can help after noticing they have ‘clicky knees’.

The practicing GP, who regularly appears on ITV programs such as Lorraine And Good morning Great Britain, said most cases may sound alarming, but it is rarely a cause for concern.

“If it’s not sore or sore, chances are it’s just fluid moving around your knee as you bend or move,” he said. “However, sometimes you can get something called crepitus in your knee.”

The doctor then demonstrated a simple test to feel what is going on by placing a hand on the kneecap and straightening your leg.

He also mentioned a condition known as osteoarthritis, which the NHS says causes joints to become painful and stiff.

He said the best way to manage the condition, if it is causing the ‘clicking’, is to ‘keep moving’.

“Exercise stimulates the fluid and cushioning in that joint. Keep walking, keep running, do whatever exercise you’re doing. Also maintain a healthy weight because it keeps pressure off the joint,” he concluded.
