As expected, Euphoria roared back to great ratings after the first episode of season 3 was scrapped.
Not only did the HBO drama send fans into meltdown, it racked up a whopping 8.5 million viewers in the US in just three days.
In doing so, these stats made a staggering 44% jump from Season 2’s debut, allowing the creators to take the flak from some viewers after episode one aired.
However, observers expected these explosive numbers, especially after the season three trailer, which registered a whopping 157 million views in two days, shattering season 2’s record by 57%.
However, the chaos-fueled show is not without its controversies. For example, in episode one of season three, Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie Howard’s OnlyFans plot rubbed some viewers the wrong way.
However, series creator Sam Levinson defended the storyline in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“[Cassie] has her doghouse and her little dog ears and nose, and that has its own humor, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.
“What we always wanted to find is the other layer of absurdity that we can connect into it, so that we don’t get too into her fantasy or illusion – the joke is to jump out and break the wall.”
Euphoria season three is streaming on HBO Max.
