Zara Larsson, a well-known Swedish pop singer, is furious when she reveals that she cannot meet her boyfriend because he once had what she describes as a minor, non-violent drug offense, namely having weed or marijuana.
She writes a long note on Instgram Stories, starting with some provocative political statements: “I love immigrants, I love criminals, I love trans people, I love abortions, I love gays, I love slutty women, I love birth control, I love welfare, I love socialism, I hate ICE.”
Then, in another post, the Lush Life hitmaker explains the reason behind her first post, saying fans started texting her for more details.
She says that the strict immigration policy barred her boyfriend from entering the United States for years because he had a criminal record.
“People in my DMs say “aahhh, criminals?!?!?!” Girl YES, heavy on that s***, the reason why my sweet, loving, kind, caring, compassionate, smart, generous, talented, thoughtful husband can’t come to the US – at all – to visit me since we got together almost six years ago is because he has a criminal record.
But Zara adds that the crime he was accused of was a minor one: possession of marijuana, which kept them apart for months.
“Guess what! Weed! Hahahahaha nice? Who cares*** f***?!? Actually, correction! He used to have a record. It’s been so long since he smoked that joint that it’s officially gone from his name and yet he still can’t get in. We spend months and months apart every year because of a small joint over six years ago.”
The 28 further suggests that having weed should be legal, and she states how this policy has overwhelmingly affected the brown and black community.
I’m not saying it should be legal… wait… yes I am – but that’s a different conversation. I’m just saying there are thousands and thousands of people going to prison for non-violent crimes like drugs, especially black and brown people because Ronald Reagan was racist and ruined communities in the 1980s.”
“I don’t know, but I’d rather have someone smoking crack on my couch than a ***** ICE agent ewwwwwwwwww. They’re criminals too. Murdering, kidnapping, violent, hateful people,” she concludes.
It is worth noting that Zara has been in a relationship with Lamin Holmén, a Swedish dancer, since 2021.
