Dolly Parton hints at more music as she turns 80

At age 80, Dolly Parton is just getting started.

In an exclusive conversation with People because of the cover story and her birthday special, the queen of country music admitted that her age won’t hold her back and she will continue making music.

“People say, ‘Well, you’re going to be 80 years old.’ Well, what then? Look at everything I’ve done in 80 years. I feel like I’m just getting started,” Parton told the outlet.

The 11 times Grammy The winner continued: “I know that sounds stupid, but unless my health fails, which seems to be fine at the moment.”

The American singer and songwriter further expressed her thoughts on growing older: You only grow old when you allow yourself to grow old.

‘I don’t have time to dwell on that. I don’t think about that,” she stated.

Parton added, “I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow. No matter what happens, I will do my best.”

In celebration of Parton’s milestone day, her home state declared her birthday, January 19, as Dolly Parton Day.

The Governor of the State of Tennessee announced Thursday: “Dolly Parton’s life and career are intertwined with the music, culture and rich history of Tennessee. Her talent and generosity have had a lasting impact on the world, and it is fitting that we honor her 80th birthday by celebrating her remarkable legacy and dedication to the Volunteer State.”
