Laura Ann Tull is being criticized for making allegations of workplace bullying against Eric Dane just days after his death.
Dane, who plays the handsome Dr. Mark Sloan starred in the popular television series Grey’s anatomy died Thursday at the age of 53, his family said, less than a year after revealing he suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
In a series of social media posts, Tull claimed to have worked as an extra on set for three years starting around 2005.
She alleged that Dane’s behavior occurred while she was dealing with health issues, including breast cancer, and claimed that she directly influenced his departure from the series in 2012 by contacting an assistant to series creator Shonda Rhimes two weeks before his departure was announced.
Tull described Dane as “true evil” and suggested his ALS diagnosis and death were “karma”, although she expressed wish he had apologized before he died.
However, reports of Dane’s departure from the show completely contradict this.
Daan joined Grey’s anatomy in season 2 (2005-2006) as Dr. Mark Sloan and became a series regular in season 3.
He left after season 8 in 2012, with his character being killed off early in season 9.
Dane described his departure as a creative decision related to the show’s evolving storylines.
He told Entertainment Weekly in 2012 that “I guess I just wasn’t the same guy they hired,” citing personal struggles, including a stint in rehab in 2011 for painkiller addiction after a sports injury.
Shonda Rhimes confirmed it was mutual, praising Dane’s contributions but noting that the plot needed to be furthered. There were also reports that budget constraints played a role, as Dane had become one of the higher-paid cast members.
Tull claims her complaint came “two weeks before they announced his resignation.” Dane’s departure was publicly announced in July 2012, following the season 8 finale in May.
However, such production decisions are typically made months in advance during contract negotiations.
One observer noted that as a low-level extra, Tull would have had minimal access to high-level executives such as Rhimes, and no report confirms her reach leading to any action.
According to her IMDb profile, Tull has credits as a background extra on several shows, including Grey’s anatomybut no speaking roles or prominent involvement.
She describes herself as an actor, filmmaker, former lawyer and breast cancer survivor, but her biography contains extensive stories of set conflicts, such as “being attacked by a staff member”, “being tripped on set” and being put on a “list” by Disney.
These details indicate a pattern in which workplace issues are seen as targeted persecution.
This isn’t the first time Tull has voiced his grievances against Dane. In a 2018 Medium essay, she accused him of similar bullying without details or evidence, stating that she wanted justice.
