Lily Collins is reportedly feeling pressured about her appearance as she takes on the role of Audrey Hepburn.
Earlier this week it was announced that Lily, known for her leading role in Emily in Pariswill portray Audrey in the upcoming biopic about the making of the 1961 classic Have breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Lily announced on her social media that she is honored to play Audrey in the yet-untitled film, based on the non-fiction book by Sam Wasson. Fifth Avenue, 5:00: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.
Although Lily considers the casting an important milestone in her career, Radaronline.com reported that she feels “tremendous pressure” due to the physical transformation required to portray Audrey, as the star is known for “the tiny waist, the swan neck, the elfin body.”
“This is a role with enormous pressure. Audrey’s image is so specific: the tiny waist, the swan neck, the elfin body. Lily is naturally slim, but there are concerns about how far she feels forced to go to match that ideal, and there are even fears that the regimen required to get it right could be veering into anorexic style,” a source told the outlet.
A second insider noted: “There’s a huge amount of scrutiny when someone plays a cultural icon, especially one so associated with a certain body type. The hope is that the focus remains on performance, not body size.”
Lily expressed her excitement on her Instagram account, commenting, “It is with almost a decade of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I can finally share this. Honored and ecstatic cannot express how I feel.”
