Lainey Wilson has spoken out about her approach to going undercover in public.

In her last conversation with PEOPLE MagazineWilson shared that she doesn’t stop living like a normal person despite being one of the world’s best-selling country artists.

The 33-year-old singer claims she can go undercover “pretty easily” in her daily life, saying, “I could be at Walgreens or Walmart, and as soon as I go to checkout, the cashier will look at me a little funny.”

“There’s no hiding the voice,” she noted.

Reflecting on her journey, she said the “explosion” of her career was something no time in the industry could have predicted.

“Even fifteen years in Nashville couldn’t prepare me for the way my career exploded. I mean, this is everything I could ever ask for and more,” she admitted.

She emphasized that while she loves her profession, she refuses to let awards define her worth as a person.

“I’m not just a singer, songwriter, musician – that’s what I do,” she claimed.

Before the conclusion, Wilson stated: “Trophies and awards are things that come with success, but it can’t define me as a person because then I lose sight of who I am. I have to keep my head straight.’
