Miles Teller has recognized Ryan Reynolds and George Clooney as the pioneers of the ‘celebrity spirit’ boom.
Speak in a new chat with The Hollywood Reporterthe actor has shared whether he has been in contact with Ryan Reynolds or George Clooney after The Finnish Long Drink, a ready-to-drink canned cocktail drinks company in which Teller had a minority stake, was acquired by the Mark Anthony Group of Companies.
The company was sold in a $325 million business deal.
With the deal drawing immediate comparisons for many to the runaway success of Ryan Reynolds, who sold Aviation American Gin to Diageo for up to $610 million in 2020, the actor was asked if Reynolds has reached out to congratulate Miles on the financial return.
He explained, “That first wave of guys with Ryan and Clooney and Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman — it all started really, when a lot of these famous copycats came in and said, ‘Oh man, look at this cash grab.'”
“But anyone in the industry will tell you that’s just not the case. When you research the big name brands, you often don’t succeed. It’s hard to build a business in general.
He mentioned friends who have seen companies fail and also emphasized the high stakes of the company.
“I can tell you that I’ve had a lot of texts from different friends and people who have built companies and seen companies fail, and they said, ‘Miles, this is a huge, huge win. It doesn’t happen often, it’s extremely rare.'”
“I’m sure less than one percent of people who start a business end up selling it for any kind of profit. It feels good because it was a new arena for me and I’m very proud of it.”
“I’m very excited for our founders. How cool for them to come from a country where they don’t export a lot of things on the world stage,” he said in conclusion.
