The Phoenix Suns secured the final Western Conference playoff spot after defeating the Golden State Warriors 111-96 in their play-in game on Friday.
In the Warriors vs. Suns battle, Jalen Green led the way with 36 points, while Devin Booker added 20 as Phoenix put in a strong all-around performance.
The Suns now face the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs starting Sunday. The loss ends Golden State’s season.
Phoenix’s defense limited Stephen Curry to 17 points on 4-for-16 shooting, while Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors with 23 points.
The Suns built an early lead and maintained control for much of the game. They led by five at halftime and extended the lead to 69-53 in the third quarter.
Jordan Goodwin contributed 19 points, nine rebounds and six steals, while tension flared late as Booker and Draymond Green were both ejected after two technical fouls.
The win allows Phoenix to avoid elimination and continue its postseason push, while Golden State’s campaign ends in the play-in phase.
