Seth Rogen has made his pointed comments for writers who take the help of artificial intelligence for their creative work.
The producer and comedian, who appeared at the Cannes Film Festival to promote his new animated film Tanglessaid to Brutal that creators using AI to write a script means “you shouldn’t be a writer.”
Seth, who is a co-producer and voice actor for his film, went on to bash those who use AI in filmmaking, saying, “I don’t understand what it’s supposed to do. Every time I see a video on Instagram that says ‘Hollywood is cooked,’ what follows is the dumbest dog shit I’ve ever seen in my life. And if your instinct is to use AI and not go through that process. You shouldn’t be a writer. Because you’re not writing.”
He further noted, “Go do something else. And if you don’t want to go through the process, then you shouldn’t be a writer. The idea of a tool that makes me write less doesn’t appeal to me, because I love writing.”
While sharing insights about his own new animated film, Seth shared Tangles was completely “hand-drawn animation. Every frame has a human touch, which is great.”
Seth Rogen’s animated film Tangles has not currently been announced for an official theatrical release; it only premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week.
