‘Tell Me Lies’ creator Meaghan Oppenheimer breaks silence on season 3 rumor

‘Tell Me Lies’ creator Meaghan Oppenheimer reveals whether season 3 will be the last

Tell me lies creator Meaghan Oppenheimer has broken her silence on rumors that season 3 is the show’s last.

“As far as future seasons go, it’s impossible to really know at this point,” Oppenheimer said We weekly.

“I definitely always thought that was always more or less the ending I had in mind,” she added.

However, she did not rule out a return for the show, adding: “But you never know what’s going to happen in the future. But there’s definitely a feeling that I didn’t want to leave anything hanging this season. Basically, I wanted to please everyone.”

The hit Hulu show follows the toxic on-and-off romance between college students Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (Jackson White). The problematic dynamic lasts eight years and sees the duo having relationships with others and cheating on them.

Season one of the show stuck with Carola Lovering’s novel, but changed the ending and had the duo reconcile again so the show could continue.

Oppenheimer previously spoke about expanding the show beyond the book, saying, “I’ve always had a sense of where they are in 2015 and what their dynamics are and what secrets everyone has. Once you at least know what people know and what they don’t know, that gives you a lot of room to play.”

“But the way we built it is we definitely did the 2008 storyline in the room first. We mapped out the whole season and then we did 2015 as its own thing,” she revealed.

“But I knew where I wanted to end the season in 2015. I knew where it had to go,” she added.

Tell me lies Season 3 episodes air every Tuesday on Hulu.
