Amber Davies recently revealed how she recovered from burnout during her recent tour Legally blonde the musical.
For those who don’t know, Davies is starring as Elle Woods on the latest UK and Ireland tour Legally blonde the musical, based on Reese Witherspoon’s 2001 film.
However, an unfortunate incident occurred when she developed a serious respiratory infection and burnout that forced her to leave the production earlier this month.
After canceling many performances, the production cast Hannah Lowther as her replacement, who performed the role for another fortnight and won praise for her performance, as she also plays Margot.
At the Kinky Boots West End opening gala, Davies spoke to Standard about the unfortunate incident, which shows that she is on the road to recovery.
“I’m doing so much better now. I just completely, completely crashed. I was burned out,” said the Love Island alum noted.
“I don’t think I’ve been like this since Covid, so I looked at the clock – I knew it was coming,” she joked.
Reflecting on the reaction following her sudden disappearance from the show, Davies said: “It was the first time this has ever happened to me.”
“I’ve been in this industry for almost ten years. I’ve never had to take time out due to illness before,” she says.
