Claire Curzan shortlisted for Honda Sport Award after dominant NCAA season

Claire Curzan has been named a finalist for the 2026 Honda Sport Award for swimming and diving, according to an announcement from the Collegiate Women Sports Awards.

The Virginia junior is one of the four finalists, alongside Lucy Bell, Torri Huske and Sophie Verzyl.

Presented annually, the Honda Sport Award recognizes top female athletes in twelve NCAA sports, which organizers describe as “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.”

The winner will advance as a finalist for the Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year and the 2026 Honda Cup, which will be awarded in July.

The finalists were selected by a panel of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America, with the final decision made via votes from NCAA member schools.

Curzan earned the nomination after an outstanding season at the 2026 NCAA Championships, where she won six titles.

These included individual victories in the 100 and 200 backstroke, along with four relay victories.

She also helped the University of Virginia secure its sixth consecutive national championship and was named the ACC Championship Most Valuable Swimmer.
