Los Angeles Lakers eliminated from the NBA playoffs after losing 115-110 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, May 11.
With this victory, Thunder advanced to the Western Conference Finals.
The Lakers fought back with 39 points in the third quarter. The Lakers were eliminated despite a 24-point, 12-rebound performance from James.
In addition, the continued absence of Luka Doncic, who missed the entire postseason due to an injury in April, also proved to be a setback for the team. Despite the spectacular efforts of Austin Reeves, the Lakers could not achieve this victory.

When the reporter asked him about his future plans, especially in retirement, the NBA icon said he doesn’t know what his future holds. He emphasized that he needs time to recalibrate, spend time with his family and think about the decision before making a decision about his career.
“None of us here know what the future holds. Neither do I. I will take the time to recalibrate, review the season and see what is best for my future. And when I get to that point, everyone will know.”
He notes that he has not yet made a decision and that retirement is not a done deal.
Despite failing in the championship, James did not see the year as a disappointment. “I mean, I was put in some positions that I’ve never played before in my career, actually in my life. I’ve never been a third option in my life. My teammates allowed me to lead them under extreme circumstances, which was pretty cool for me.”
He also praised his team’s resilience despite multiple injuries and roster changes.
Following the elimination, the basketball world is now focused on James’ uncertain future as he will be an unrestricted free agent after the expiration of LeBron’s current contract this summer. It remains to be seen whether he will return for a record-extending 24th season or not.
