In the sports world, everyone is talking about the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 139-103 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
With this historic victory, the Spurs advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2017 with a blowout Game 6 victory over the Timberwolves, led by Castle’s 32 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five threes on efficient shooting.
But what made the match more interesting was the Spurs’ stylish entrance into the Target Center and their strategy to win the match.
Ahead of their Game 6 against the Timberwolves, Spur star De’Aaron Fox laid out a precise blueprint for the team’s players, including staying physical and limiting the Timberwolves’ second-chance points.
That’s why the Spurs not only followed the blueprint during Friday night’s game, but weaponized it, beating Minnesota to clinch the series 4-2.
Fox emphasized neutralizing Minnesota’s size and keeping them off the offensive glass, saying, “You know what everyone’s going to do, we know each other’s plays, we know everyone’s tendencies.”
He added: “At that point you’ve got to try to win some of these games. If you can cause some turnovers or push their catches away a little bit more, they’re just little nuances of the game.”
The Spurs now face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the finals. The series begins Monday at OKC’s Paycom Center at 8:30 PM ET.
