Matthias Schmid has emerged as one of the surprise contenders at the PGA Championship, with his long-time girlfriend Nora Worlke supporting him during his biggest week in professional golf.
The 28-year-old German golfer spent much of Sunday’s final round at the top of the Aronimink Golf Club leaderboard as he chased a potential first major title.
Schmid, who played college golf at the University of Louisville, didn’t turn pro until 2021.
His performance this week marks the best major championship result of his career, having previously won just once at a major tournament.
Worlke, who is also from Germany, has largely stayed out of the spotlight as Schmid’s profile has grown on the PGA Tour.
The couple keeps their relationship relatively private on social media, although Worlke has occasionally shared photos from trips and events with the golfer over the years.
According to her Instagram Story, Worlke is currently with Aronimink to support Schmid during the tournament.
