Adam Duritz has opened up about his past relationship with Courteney Cox and admits making it work was far from easy.
Speaking in the band’s new documentary, Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?, The 61-year-old musician reflected on his mid-1990s romance with The Friends star, revealing that their differences ultimately proved difficult to overcome.
For those unfamiliar, Duritz dated Cox after previously dating her Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston.
Although the relationship lasted longer than many of his others, Duritz confessed that it was complicated from the start.
“Courteney was probably my longest relationship, but I don’t know if we were really together for much of it,” he said candidly.
According to the singer, their contrasting personalities often left them out of sync.
“We were very, very different people,” he explained.
“And there were moments that were absolutely amazing together and there were moments where it was really hard.”
Duritz then summed up the gist of their split, admitting, “We just weren’t on the same page.”
