Miley Cyrus revealed the new song she wrote for Avatar: Fire and Ash comes from a personal space.
In a recent conversation with Peoplethe Flowers singer opened up about writing her new song, Dream as onein which she explains that it is about her own experience with ‘rebuilding’ her house in Malibu, which burned down in a forest fire in 2018.
“Just in the title alone, Fire and Ash, I’ve had my own experience rebuilding from the ground up,” Cyrus told the outlet.
Referring to the wildfires that occurred in Los Angeles earlier this year in January, she said, “After going through the fires this year, I felt like lately we’ve all had this idea of being there for each other and stepping in when your people need it.”
“Not just your family, but your chosen family,” Cyrus continued. “And the resilience and courage it takes to start over. And somehow discover that all you really need is each other.”
Earlier in May 2025, the Disney alum opened up about the loss of her home, which she shared with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. She said losing the house was “the greatest blessing I ever had in my life, what I would have told my younger self is to appreciate those dark times… they only lead you to the light.”
