Kristin Cavallari, a reality star and businesswoman, starred Laguna Beachan MTV reality show. She was 17 at the time.
But her participation led to what she now described as a “nasty fight” between her father, Dennis Cavallari, and stepmother Nicole King.
On her podcast, Let’s be honest with Kristin Cavallarishe remembers not liking her father’s second wife. The Denver resident wrote this information in the application for the show, which Nicole read.
“I’ve talked a lot about my stepmother in my… [application] package, and I told her that I didn’t like her, and that she was closer to my age than my father, and that, okay, hello.
She continues: ‘I know, I can’t judge it now, but I did judge it at the time. I talked about how much I hated her.”
This left Nicole with a “complete disdain for MTV,” Kristin claims, adding, “I remember Nicole grabbing my packet, literally grabbing it out of my hands in high school during the whole casting process, as I’m in the middle of filling it out, grabbing it out of my hands, guys,” she said, “Read it, clearly saw what I said about her, and she was mad.” Rightly so, I understand.’
“But that’s why she always had this weird, not weird, hatred for MTV, this complete disdain.”
But things came to a head when Kristin signed on for a second season because her stepmother threatened to walk out of the house if her father didn’t stop her daughter.
“She actually threatened to leave when the second season of Laguna Beach was happening,” she recalls. “She told my dad that if I did the second season, she would move.”
But Dennis, Kristin’s father, did not give in to the alleged threat, according to her. “And my father said, ‘Then get out.’ It was a little more intense than that,” she says.
“It was a very nasty fight that I saw between them,” she explained. “Anyway, without giving too many details,” the 39-year-old continues.
“So she always hated MTV, and I think that made her hate me a little bit,” Kristin concludes.
