Jesy Nelson recently announced that she wanted to leave Small mix after only two years in the band.
After winning The X factor in 2011, the 34-year-old English singer became part of the award-winning girl group Small mix, which consisted of Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards.
About the recent episode of the Great company with Jamie Laing podcast, Nelson, who withdrew Small mix in 2020 shared that she wanted to leave the band for seven years before announcing her departure.
She said, ‘That [leaving] presented itself long before I made that decision. There was a time when I thought ‘oh, I want to leave’ and I remember sitting with my family… and it was actually thanks to my brother that I ended up staying.”
The Sweet melody crooner continued, “The first time I wanted to leave, I remember going home and we were kind of weighing things up [pros and cons]…and at that point we weren’t even at our biggest yet.”
“We already were, it was only two years ago, but we were still big. Everyone still knew who Little Mix was, so it was like ‘if you leave now, what are you going to do?'” she noted.
Laing also appreciated her for showing courage as she split just a year before the group was set to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
