French film star Nadia Farès has died at the age of 57

French actress Nadia Farès has died at the age of 57.

The Moroccan-born star was found unconscious in a Paris gym pool on April 11.

Nadia, best known for her breakthrough role in The Crimson Rivershad been in a coma since the incident.

The actress’ daughters announced her death. In a statement to AFPCylia and Shana Chasman revealed that their mother went into cardiac arrest and died on Friday, April 17.

“It is with enormous sadness that we announce the death of Nadia Farès on Friday,” they said.

“France has lost a great artist, but for us it is above all a mother that we have just lost,” the statement continued.

The sisters also asked for “respect and discretion” as they expressed their grief over their mother’s death.

For those unfamiliar, Nadia rose to fame in 2000 after starring in the crime thriller film The Crimson Rivers. The actress had recently returned to Paris, France, after living in the United States.

Nadia would direct her first film later this year.

“Through hard work, questioning and stubbornness, I found a great team. We are working on an action comedy together with Studios TF1,” she said Gala in January, expressing his excitement about his new project.
