How to enter and win

Zohran Mamdani launches a $50 World Cup lottery in New York: how to enter and win?

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Thursday announced a contingency plan for NYC residents regarding the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the announcement, World Cup tickets will be available to residents of the five boroughs for $50 per ticket.

As part of this program, 1,000 tickets are included for the match at MetLife Stadium. Each $5o ticket includes round-trip bus transportation to and from the stadium.

With this offer, residents can only enjoy seven matches, including five group stage matches, one round of 32-game and one round of 16-game, excluding the final.

Speaking of the distribution of the tickets, they are randomly given to residents before each match.

This is for the time when a host city will start offering special ticket access to its residents in 2026. Affordability is at the heart of New York City’s campaign, which is determined to deliver a cost-effective World Cup experience amid a high ticket pricing model.

Mamdani said during a campaign stop in September, “There’s just no chance for so many people who love this game so much to actually go and see this.”

“This also has a real impact on the potential for the atmosphere of the World Cup and how many fans will actually be there. Because the people who get the tickets quickest are often not the ones who are most eager to be there. They are the ones who are the most excited at the prospect of winning.”

The recent initiative is a collaboration between the Mayor’s office and the NY/NJ World Cup host committee.
