Miley Cyrus reached a major milestone in her career as she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday.
During her speech, the Flowers singer could not control her emotions and burst into tears.
“To my family, my future family, parents, my mother, my siblings, my friends, my co-workers: thank you for loving and supporting not only the choices I make, but also my fears, and then facing them with me,” Miley said.
“Today is something I will never forget and will always cherish. I love you all so much, thank you,” she continued.
In her speech, Miley also referenced her hit song Walk of Fame, which ends with the line “You will live forever.”
“This star somehow represents immortality, and while I love the lyrics, the fact that I don’t want that is the urgency that sets my heart on fire,” she said.
“What’s special about this star to me is that it’s an accumulation of dedication. A star isn’t something you win like a seasonal competition. It’s not something you can chase or collect. It’s not something you create the next record for,” Miley continued, adding that it’s “fierce, fun and fantastic.”
The 33-year-old singer was joined at the ceremony by mother Tish Cyrus, her sister Brandi Cyrus and fiancé Maxx Morando.
Miley’s friends, Donatella Versace and Anya Taylor-Joy, also attended the ceremony.
