Tom Hanks’ brother Jim Hanks recently revealed that he lent his voice Toy story in the absence of his famous brother.
For those who don’t know, in the 1995 American animated adventure comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Picture, Tom lent his voice to Sheriff Woody, the cowboy.
Jim appeared on the recent episode of the I love it. Film podcast, where he confessed to voicing Woody on behalf of his brother in many supporting projects, including video games, merchandise and short films.
The 64-year-old American actor and filmmaker said: “The first thing I ever did was one of the pull-string toys from the first movie where he says, ‘You’re my favorite deputy’ and ‘There’s a snake in my boot’ and stuff like that.”
He added: “They had processed the voice so well that they needed a cleaner [version] so I come in and do it.
Jim further admitted that playing Woody was a “hugely” amazing opportunity for him, and he made sure to stay “as true to the character as possible” while doing it for Tom.
It is relevant to mention that Toy story had an ensemble cast to voice various characters such as Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger, Jim Varney, Andrew Stanton, Estelle Harris and many others.
