Rachel Zegler finally breaks silence about criticism of ‘Snow White’

Rachel Zegler just discussed the baseless hatred she harbors Snow White got a remake.

The Disney star reportedly threw her phone “into the ocean” to avoid inflaming her haters, she admitted in a new interview.

Rachel told me Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, she learned some lessons after facing several waves of backlash over her role in the 2025 live-action remake of the 1937 animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

When she was first announced as the star of the film, conservatives criticized Disney for casting a Latina actress (Rachel’s mother is Colombian-American) in a role previously portrayed as white.

This week, Rachel noted that she had previously been criticized for the opposite issue, when online commentators expressed their anger over her casting as Maria in 2021. Westside story remake, because her father is Polish.

“I was told I wasn’t enough of one for West Side Story and too much of the other for Snow White,” Rachel discussed.

Later, Rachel found herself at the center of controversy again after posting on social media about her support for Palestinian human rights — a choice she told the outlet she would make differently when her time came back.

“If I could have predicted everything that was coming my way, the threats to my safety, I would have just thrown my phone into the ocean. I think any reasonable person would have done that,” Rachel Zegler concluded.
