Martin Short is reportedly leaning on close friends as disturbing reports of devastating private losses circulate online.
According to reports, Short’s daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, was reportedly found dead in her Los Angeles home at the age of 42.
A source said this Radaronline that Short, known for his work in Saturday Night Live and Only Murders in the Building, has withdrawn from the public eye. “Martin adored Katherine. The sun rose and set with her, so of course he is now in turmoil and finding it almost impossible to process this,” the source said.
He added: ‘He knew she was struggling mentally but not to this extent.’
“It’s just shocking and unfathomable to him on every level and it’s taken a wrecking ball to his entire world,” they noted.
Martin Short’s friends are reportedly gathering with close friends worried about how deeply the loss could affect him. “It has not been easy for the many people who know and love Martin to stand by his side or help him.”
‘Right now he’s locking himself away and trying to deal with the practical arrangements, while being there for Katherine’s two adopted brothers.
“Even Meryl is having a hard time reaching out to Martin right now, and suffice it to say, she’s very concerned. She loves Martin unconditionally, and it’s just devastating to see him so shattered and broken,” the insider added.
It’s pertinent to note that this comes less than a month after the death of Martin Short’s long-time friend Catherine O’Hara.
