Maya Hawke and Lewis Pullman look to their famous parents for their acting inspiration.

The two actors admitted that their parents showed them how to embrace “grace and gratitude” in Hollywood.

Maya and Lewis, who star in the upcoming rom-com Wishful thinkingstepped onto the red carpet at the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 12 and reflected on the wisdom they gained from their famous parents.

Lewis, whose father is Bill Pullman and mother is dancer Tamara Hurwitz, made his acting debut alongside his father in The Ballad of Lefty Brown in 2017.

The Space balls 2 actor revealed that his father was always calm in his work and that he kept work and private life separate.

“My dad leads by example. He doesn’t really force mantras down my throat, which I think has been really helpful,” Lewis said.

He noted that the education he received from Bill over the years has been “invaluable.”

Meanwhile, Maya, the daughter of actress Umma Thurman and actor Ethan Hawke, gave her an early glimpse into what it feels like to live under public scrutiny.

Maya said her parents taught her to deal with fame with “grace and gratitude,” even when it is overwhelming.

She believes that success in the sector sometimes “goes so sour” that it often affects privacy.

“I am very grateful for the way my parents showed me that the price for your humanity, for avoiding interaction with the world, is a more expensive price than the price for taking a photo with someone on the street,” Maya added.
