Elle Fanning isn’t shy about bringing her character to life.
The 27-year-old actress revealed in a recent chat that she created an OnlyFans account in preparation for her role in Apple TV‘s upcoming series Margo has money problems.
During the series premiere at the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 12, she explained how she wanted to understand her role in real life as her character interacts with the platform.
“There were a lot of things,” Elle said People. “Obviously I’m an Instagram user and a TikTok user. I have to look at that.”
She continued, “We also had to dive into OnlyFans a little bit. We created an account for the writers’ room, and for me, so I could see what the website is like.”
The series is based on Rufi Thorphe’s 2024 book of the same name, which tells the story of a school dropout who turned to the website to pay off her debts.
Elle previously said of the titular character: “Margo is such a hopeful character,” she shared Term in December.
“She’s faced these hardships in life, but somehow she’s always managed to overcome them. I think that’s what made her really inspiring to play, and the world is just very specific and very fun,” Elle added at the time.
