AI robot pharmacist deployed in Beijing as China expands smart healthcare

In a recent AI-powered breakthrough in healthcare retailing, China has deployed the first robot pharmacist in Beijing’s Haidian district.

The robots, called Galbot G1 and developed by Beijing Galbot Co. Ltd, are trained to serve as sales assistants as long as the operating company has a valid pharmaceutical distribution license.

When it comes to operational efficiency, these robots can not only locate medications on shelves, but also pick and package them.

The robot can handle various types of items, including fragile or irregularly shaped packages. The robot also shows a 99.5 percent success rate while handling medications.

Optimized for high-stakes retail environments, this system streamlines the sale of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and packaged wellness items.

By automating the heavy lifting, including inventory control, replenishment, picking and packaging, it delivers accuracy and speed where it matters most.

The robot pharmacist also features AI visual recognition and traceability code scanning to record the shelf life of medicines and prevent expired medicines from entering the market.

According to local regulators, the recent deployment highlights the integration of AI in healthcare and the expansion of smart service models in community pharmacies.
