Fans React to Oprah’s ’90 Year Walk’: ‘This Woman’s Supremacy Over Other Black Women’

Oprah Winfrey has received support from her fans after recently responding to some social media users who mocked the way she walked at Paris Fashion Week. However, some continue to roast her.

It all started with some critics initially mocking her and her longtime boyfriend Gayle King for walking “like they were 90 years old” in a TikTok recording of the pair entering the venue for the Chloé Fall/Winter 2026 runway show in Paris on March 5.

Winfrey then addressed the comments in a video clip shared to Instagram. In her defense, her stylist had handed her a pair of Chloé sunglasses just before she got out of the car. The glasses were not prescription lenses, which meant she struggled to see clearly as she walked.

“I wear glasses or contact lenses, so they weren’t prescription,” she explained. “I didn’t know where I was walking. I couldn’t see it.” The 72-year-old television host said she even had to rely on her security team to guide her into the show.

Winfrey also provided the explanation for King’s slow walk that day, saying the journalist squeezed two broken toes at the time.

Social media users have re-shared their assessments on the matter, with some admiring her, and others not so much.

One supporter believed that Oprah’s “will be 105 and still be in better shape than I am in my 30s,” while another expressed annoyance at people holding up Oprah as some sort of ideal and suggested that Oprah’s facial features aren’t even typically black.

“No, this black woman’s supremacy over other black women. Not all of you are built like that, most of you have a sexy red face on Oprah’s body covered in tattoos that make you look like you’ve been punched. The only black face on this woman is her skin color,” someone wrote on X.

A second hater wrote: “lol just have a little mercy.”

However, other fans continued to shower her with praise and messages of encouragement. “I love how Oprah stays relevant and humble,” one supporter wrote.

Another said: “Gosh I didn’t even think you were walking slow, I thought damn, she looks sharp in that mustard cropped Bowlero jacket, I love the high waisted wide leg jeans, it’s all about perspective.”

Meanwhile, others took note of another matter, writing: “So she saw the fashion show blurry?” with a laughing emoji.
