Tanner Hagen, Abby Ryder Forston and Maxwell Jenkins have joined the cast of Netflix Scooby Doo series.
The trio will respectfully play Shaggy Rogers, Velma Dinkley and Fred Jones in the upcoming, as-yet-untitled show, alongside the previously announced Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake.
On Instagram, Tanner said: “ZOINKS! Like… is this even life?
“So incredibly grateful to be stepping into the shoes of the iconic Shaggy Rogers in the upcoming Netflix live-action series!” he added
“Thanks to everyone who helped me get here. See you soon gang!”
Mckenna said: “JEEPERSSSS I’m so excited! The beginning of the mystery gang.”
Meanwhile, Maxwell added that he is “so grateful for the opportunity,” while Abby wrote: “JINKIES!!
“I’m excited to solve some mysteries with the gang! I’m so honored to be the next to wear that iconic turtleneck. See you soon!”
The series is described by Netflix as a “modern reinterpretation of the beloved franchise” – and will explore how the teen mystery-solving team “teamed up for the first time”, starting with old friends Shaggy and Daphne during “their last summer at camp”.
In a press release, the streamer teased, “The two become embroiled in a terrifying mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder.”
“With the help of pragmatic and scientific fellow townsman Velma and the strange but ever-so-handsome newcomer Freddy, they set out to solve the case that drags them all into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all their secrets,” the Scooby-Doo press release concludes.
