Reese Witherspoon celebrates a new chapter in her life as she looks back on past achievements.
The ‘Legally Blonde’ actress took to her Instagram account to celebrate her 50th birthday, along with a quick look back at the victories she achieved at a younger age.
She posted a carousel of photos of Reese’s current selfie from when she started her acting career, along with a detail note on each image explaining the honest and vulnerable side of her past decades of life.
“I’m almost 50, but I was once…” she began.
“40, with purpose, trying new things, embracing life fully. Turning 40 felt like my first deep exhale. I know who I am now – and what I want. Producing, championing women’s stories and helping others find their voices lights me up. I’m still working hard, but now it’s with a purpose. I’ve been co-writing my first novel, exploring new projects and pushing myself in ways I never had before,” she continued.
On the third slide, she added a photo from her 30s, the decade she spent finding her “voice, balancing motherhood, shaping my path.”
“I learned to trust myself more and discovered how to be a mother while having a career. I started producing because I wanted to tell stories that mattered, stories about women that weren’t being told. Wild and Big Little Lies felt like turning points. I realized I could create my own opportunities instead of waiting for them.
Last but not least, Reese shared a snapshot from her twenties, the decade that was “ambitious, anxious, and my first taste of fame.”
“I was afraid of everything, but I kept going. I threw myself into roles like Election and Cruel Intentions, and then at 29 I won an Oscar for Walk the Line. I was working non-stop, trying to figure out life, how to be a mother, and half the time I had no idea what I was doing. But I learned and discovered that I could handle more than I thought.”
Reese concluded her carousel of her prospects as she grows older, writing, “This is the next step… There’s still so much to do, and I’m excited about it. More stories to tell, more women to encourage, and more ways to keep learning and growing.”
