It was rumored years ago that Dakota Fanning would play an undisclosed role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now she’s setting the record straight.
“There have been rumors over the years that you will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That hasn’t materialized yet, but I’m curious. Was there any truth to those rumors?” she says The direct one while appearing at South by Southwest in 2026.
She continues: “That didn’t happen, no. But I would be completely open to it. Sometimes I will see [rumours] on Instagram. I guess I should call my agent and see what’s going on. But no, there is no truth in that so far.”
While Fanning adds that she is open to playing a role in the MCU, she adds that she has “never really thought about it.” But I would be downstairs! I’ll try anything. I would do anything if someone wanted me.”
The actress began to perform as a child artist. She later appeared in War of the Worlds, The Twilight Saga, The Runaways and The Alienist.
In other news, the star’s sister Elle Fanning opened up about starring alongside her The Nightingale.
“Kristin Hannah’s best-selling book is a force of nature. It’s the perfect movie to star in together for the first time because it’s the ultimate sister story about two women fighting in different ways,” she told Vogue.
Then compare both characters on the screen. ‘One resists loudly. The other softly, but both are equally strong.’
“It’s been a goal of Dakota and I for a long time, and we’re both over the moon that it’s finally going to happen next year!” she added.
The Nightingale debuts in theaters on February 12, 2027.
