In the penultimate episode, The boys have two, not one, brutal endings. The first is of course Frenchie, who was murdered.
The other, which many viewers may not have seen coming, is Soldier Boy.
Confirmed by Eric Kripke, who created the show, in a recent interview with Collider.
He said the reference to Soldier Boy’s “Impala” was a nod to his past, as it was his final scene.
‘Yes, of course. Of course we did. Knowing this would be Jensen’s last scene in the series, we wanted to add one final reference.”
Kripke said the team swapped “Ford” for “Impala” at the last minute.
“Honestly,” Slem wrote and we shot that it was a Ford. It was: “Working on the old Ford.”
“The danger of having (director) Phil Sgriccia and I sitting next to each other during the editing, which we would do, was that we would look at it and Phil would be like, ‘Should it be ‘Impala’?’
“And I thought, ‘Yeah, it should probably be ‘Impala.'” And so Jensen repeated ‘Impala’ to give one final nod.”
The boys finale will first release in theaters on May 19th and then on streamer on May 20th.
