Theo von addressed Fans After his weekend show in New York, his fans worried about his mental health.
The comedian performed on Saturday evening in the Beacon Theater, where the event should be filmed for a stand-up special.
According to several people who were present, the set felt unprepared and uneven. Many described it as confusing and a number of audience left the location before it was ready.
Afterwards, a Von Online clip circulated where he told the crowd: “I had a long month. I am not trying to take my own life.”
The line caused an alarm and led to speculation that the comedian perhaps struggled.
The star later explained the comment on his podcast last weekend, because he repeated several times: “I would never try to take my own life,” emphasized that his words were not a real reflection of how he felt.
He further admitted that the show did not go smoothly, but said that failure was part of the comedy process. “I eat failure for breakfast, brother. It’s part of work,” he told listeners.
The comic icon also shared that he was grateful for his family, friends and faith, adding that he wanted to concentrate on building a future and leaving a positive impact behind.
He now gets new material and reports suggest that his next stand-up hour could appear on Netflix.
At the same time, Von’s podcast continued to increase in popularity and recently reached number two in the worldwide graphs of Spotify.
