Zelda Williams makes a genuine plea for people to stop sharing AI-generated videos from her deceased father, Robin Williams.
In recent weeks, AI generated clips of celebrities who died, trending on social media, with Robin Williams among those who can be seen.
Some of these videos have been sent directly to Zelda, so that she speaks out on Instagram.
“Please, just stop sending my AI videos from Dad. Stop believing that I want to see it or that I will understand, I will not do that and I will not do it,” she wrote about her stories.
“If you just try to troll me, I have seen me much worse, I will limit and continue. But please, if you have a decency, just stop with him and even for me, even against everyone, even, stupid. It’s stupid, it’s a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it’s not what he would want.”
AI-generated images of other icons, including Michael Jackson, have also become viral, but Zelda made it clear that she finds the practice deeply disrespectful.
She described the trend as both “coarse” and “Gekmending”, criticizing how it reduces the estates of real people to cheap replicas.
“To see how the legacies of real people are condensed to ‘this vague appearance and sounds like them, so that is enough’, just so that other people can harden Tiktoksloppen, is crazy,” she explained.
“You don’t make art, you make disgusting, over-processed hot dogs from people’s life, from the history of art and music, and then push them in the throat of someone else in the hope that they give you a little thumb up and like it. Gross.”
In a follow -up post, Zelda expressed her frustration about how AI is celebrated.
“And for the love of everything, stop calling it ‘the future’,” she wrote.
“Ai is just recycling badly and regurting the past to be reconsidered. You record the human centip of content, and from the very end of the line, all while the people laugh and laughs, consume and consume.”
Her strong words not only reflect her desire to protect her father’s memory, but also a broader concern about how AI reforms art, creativity and respect for human legacies.
