Channing Tatum puts things right over a long circulating claim from Jax Taylor.
During a performance on Andy Cohenlive on SiriusXM Monday, the Magic Mike actor was asked directly if he had ever shared a room with the VanderPump rules star, whose real name is Jason Cauchi.
Tatum did not hesitate in his answer. “Absolutely not,” he said laughing.
Cohen explained that Taylor repeatedly told the story that the two roommates were during their early model days.
Tatum admitted that he needed a photo of him, with some context about his own time in New York. The actor remembered that he lived in a ‘model house’, that he described as a place where aspiring models were allowed to live with little more than a bed to sleep on.
He admitted that he did not last long after he got into a fight with one of the other fellow artists.
When Tatum was shown from Taylor, he still couldn’t recognize him.
“All models look about the same thing, he is a handsome guy,” he said, before he admitted, “I don’t think I’ve ever had a roommate with him, but perhaps.”
Taylor made this claim for the first time in 2013 during an episode of View live what happensHe insisted that Tatum was his first roommate in New York.
He repeated the story in May 2023 in an interview with Rolling stonein which the setup is described as a tight apartment filled with bunk beds.
According to Taylor, this was around 2002, just before Tatum’s career took a flight thanks to a Mountain Dew commercial.
That commercial became a kind of launch platform for Tatum and even attracted the attention of Amanda Bynes, from him She’s the man co-star.
In a 2018 Paper Magazine interview remembered that he argued for casting in the film and said: “I fought completely for Channing. [to get cast in] That film because he was not yet famous. He had just done a Mountain Dew commercial and I thought, “This man is a star, every girl will love him!”
While Taylor stays with his story, Tatum does not seem convinced, although he is willing to leave some room for possibilities.
