ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has announced that internet services may experience deterioration or partial disruption due to maintenance work on one of its submarine cables.
In a statement on Monday, PTCL spokesperson said an international cable consortium has planned the repair of a faulty repeater installed in the submarine cable system.
The maintenance activity will begin on October 14, around 11 a.m. PST, and may last up to 6 p.m.
During this period, users across Pakistan may experience slow internet speeds or intermittent connection issues. The spokesperson regrets the inconvenience.
Mobile internet recently remained suspended in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to protests by a political party.
Pakistan has suffered repeated internet outages, including due to submarine cable failures. Authorities have promised stronger connectivity in the coming months and announced plans to roll out 5G services, initially in several major cities.
